UFOs & POWER OUTAGES - BLACKOUT RELATED TO UFO SIGHTINGS?

• Power Outages & UFOs  contains data allegedly from the the Federal Power Commission and links it to UFO sightings. The following excerpt from page is testimony of Dr. James E. McDonald before the House Committee on Science & Astronautics, July 29, 1968: ...UFO's have often been seen hovering near power facilities. There are a small number but still a little too many to seem pure fortuitous chance, of system outages, coincident with the UFO sighting... Even the famous one, the New York blackout (Nov 9 1965), involved UFO sightings. Dr. Hynek probably would be the most appropriate man to describe the Manhattan sighting, since he interviewed several witnesses involved. I interviewed a woman in Seacliff, N.Y. She saw a disk hovering and going up and down. And then shooting away from New York just after the power failure... It is rather puzzling that the pulse of current that tripped the relay at the Ontario Hydro Commission plant has never been identified, but initially the tentative suspicion was centered on the Clay Substation of the Niagara Mohawk network right there in the Syracuse area, where unidentified aerial phenomenon has been seen by some of the witnesses.

Excerpt follows:   The most spectacular UFO revelation, however, came one day prior to the release of the 'official' explanation (for the 1965 power outage) when, speaking before a nationwide  television audience, NBC commentator Frank McGee announced that a private pilot had spotted a "round, glowing object near the Niagara Falls power  plant". Associated Press picked up the story and numerous newspapers subsequently carried it. The following morning, a well-documented article appeared in  the New York Journal American blaming UFOs for the  disastrous power-grid breakdown.

• Niagara Falls Gazette article April 1968 Continuing UFO sightings in 1968 reminded the author of the blackout of 1965 and the UFO sightings near Niagara power station. The following link  MANY REPORT SEEING 2 UFOS from the Gazette of September 1965, weeks before the massive power outage of November.

• Summary of UFO & 1965 Blackout Conspiracy Theory Excerpt: Within moments of the Syracuse sighting 9 northeastern states and parts of Canada experienced the largest power failure in history. Media accounts including those by NBC news, The Associated Press, and some local papers openly reported the UFO sightings and in a few cases suggested that they be investigated as a possible cause of the blackout. However, before this speculation could gain much momentum the Federal Power Commission announced that the problem had been caused by a broken relay in a Canadian power plant. This answer was accepted by the press and public and the UFO angle was quickly forgotten.

• Do Nuclear Facilities Attract UFOs? While we at watcher website do not agree with the author's conclusion that the "aliens" behind UFOs are concerned with the dangers of  nuclear power or nuclear weapons, it is interesting to note that US counties which house nuclear power plants also seem to have a higher incidence of UFO sightings. Excerpt: On numerous occasions, UFOs have been reported over nuclear power plants as well as nuclear research facilities and nuclear weapons storage bunkers at military bases...The answer about whether nuclear facilities attract UFOs appears to be “yes.”There is an excess of 3,051 UFO reports for nuclear site counties above what would have been predicted based on the non-nuclear counties. For close encounters, there is an excess of 568 close encounter reports over what should have been expected based on other UFO reporting dynamics.

• NORAD data UFOs over Malmstrom AFB Montana 1975 The 1975-77 flap of UFOs in Great Falls Montana would later be documented by Kieth Wolverton in his classic Mystery Stalks the Prarie, and out of print book that vanishes off the shelves from university and public libraries ... hmmm, where could they be going?

• Malmstrom Air Force Base Montana UFO / Missile Incident of 1967 Excerpt: Within seconds, the entire flight of ten ICBMs was down! All of their missiles reported a "No-Go" condition.   One by one across the board, each missile had became inoperable. When the checklist procedure had been completed for each missile site, it was discovered that each of the missiles had gone off alert status due to a Guidance and Control (G&C) System fault. Power had not been lost to the sites; the missiles simply were not operational because, for some unexplainable reason, each of their guidance and control systems had malfunctioned.

• Intriguing excerpt from Dr. James E. McDonald before the House Committee on Science & Astronautics, July 29, 1968: several people found the fillings in their mouth hurting while this object was nearby, but there are many cases probably on record of car ignition failure. One famous case was at Levelland, Tex., in 1957. Ten vehicles were stopped within a short area, all independently in a 2-hour period, near Levelland, Tex. There was no lightning or thunder storm, and only a trace of rain. There is another which I don't know whether to bring to the committee's attention or not. The evidence is not as conclusive as the car stopping phenomenon, hut there are too many instances for me to ignore.

Missles at Malmstrom AFB were shut down concurrent with UFO sightings in much the same way a car's ignition might fail in the presence of a UFO. Speaking of UFO related car failure, here is a picture of Dave Flynn on his way to the Roswell UFO conference July 2, 2003. He is taking his belongings out of his car that mysteriously failed on the road between Steve Quayle's hometown of Bozeman Montana, and West Yellowstone. The crudely drawn green arrow indicates something strange hovering in the sky behind the failed car (which 5 days later drove home without incident and has worked ever since).
