Fishing Rods

Who can help but love classic bamboo?  More than just the beauty, I truly enjoy fishing them.

My main squeeze:

“Stoddard’s Special”

This is a Gene Edwards built rod sold by a venerable Boston outdoor store called Stoddard’s (Previously Dame, Stoddard, Kendall).  It is 8 ½’ and throws a DT6 beautifully.  During its inaugural trip, it limbered up during a long, windy day on the Beaverhead, proving it’s worth for throwing everything from delicate PMD’s to streamers.  Across a 15-25 mph wind, I was able to throw a Klein Streetwalker clear across the river.  It might be nearly 70 years old, but it’s no retired senior citizen.
