Anxious to learn more about this new section of river, I hustled back a couple days later. This time I had just a little more luck.

The water was still low and clear. This low-head dam looks promising, but I’ve yet to pick up anything here despite trying it with a variety of flies.

Finally, near sunset, I got into a pod of nymphing trout. I was using tiny hare’s ears and Prince nymphs on the bottom. Despite hooking a few, it was just temporarily. Many lessons learned.
