Before taking off for a long week in Houston and New Orleans, I took another run at the Missouri. It proved productive, if just in a way far enough to encourage repeat visits. It was a special trip because, amongst other reasons, a loaner Kia was my chariot (long story).
Upon arriving, I found that the tip of my Day Care rod was back on the bench with a drying coat of varnish. Sigh. Oh well, my trusty Cabela’s Stowaway was, well, stowed away. Like the other tools that have found their way into my heart by being there, the Stowaway has. It sure has been part of significant recent memories because it was handy enough to be along.

As clear as last week, the trout were rising from mid-afternoon until some unobserved time after dark. Once again, it was a bit windy for near-freezing temperatures. Leakey waders are so much fun this time of year. It is wonderfully clear, though.

And another day arrived. Just when I’m thinking the Missouri isn’t worthwhile, along comes a beautiful rainbow at the end of the day. To top it off, my new adaptation of the #18 lightening bug produced.
