Our Sunday School, held each Sunday morning at 10 in the church at 1800
Highland in Helena, is open to all young people up to the age of 20. In the
first lessons, students learn the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, the
Beatitudes; then they learn about the common Biblical heritage illustrated by
individuals such as Abraham, Noah, Moses, Elisha and Elijah, Samuel, David, and
many others in the Old Testament. They learn through the New Testament about
Jesus and His disciples and apostles. They learn about God's love for them, and
how Biblical truths are applicable to today's life.

Just what is a Christian Science Reading Room, and
what's there for me?
|
It's a place where you can buy, borrow, or read the
Bible and Christian Science literature, including the Christian Science
textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker
Eddy. It's also a place where you can spend some quiet time thinking about
spiritual things.
|
|
Do you have to be a Christian Scientist to come in?
|
No, not at all. It's a place for people who think about the serious issues
of life--things like:
- the nature of God
- one's relationship to
God
- the problem of evil
- the purpose of one's
life
- the source of
happiness, guidance and inspiration
- the method of living a
genuine Christian life

|
Do you try to convert people who come in the Christian
Science Reading Room?
|
We trust everyone to make up his or her own mind
about the validity of anything. We are always happy to discuss issues with
our visitors, but never pressure them into accepting anything. Our intention
is to serve as a source of healing ideas for those who are looking for them.

|
Do you have a church?
|
Yes! The Church of Christ, Scientist is the
official name for what most people call the Christian Science Church. It was
founded in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy, a pioneer in the field of modern
Christian healing. Her intention in founding the church was "to
commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate
primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing." (Church Manual,
p. 17) www.tfccs.com

|
Do you use the Bible?
|
Yes! All of the teachings of Christian Science are based on the Bible,
although the theology derived from it differs in some ways from that of
conventional Christianity. That theology is detailed in the Christian Science
textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker
Eddy. This book solves the seeming contradictions of the Bible and makes the
Bible's wisdom applicable to everyday modern life.
Science and Health and the King James Version of the Bible are the
co-pastors of the Christian Science church in that these two books are always
available to give guidance, comfort, and encouragement. Sermons in Christian
Science churches are derived solely from the pages of these two books, with
no personal commentary.

|
Is it OK to just come in and read the books or periodicals
without buying anything?
|
Of course! There are copies available for you to read in a
quiet area of the Reading Room, and the attendant is always glad to answer
your questions.
