Preparations are under way to open a Boy Scout summer camp on Melita Island.
Imagine yourself living on an island for a week, rising in the morning to the lapping sound of waves hitting the shore. Imagine yourself swimming, boating and canoeing in a lake surrounded by majesticmountains.
Melita Island is a 64 acre island on Flathead Lakein Northwest Montana. Access is by boat only, boat transportationto and from the camp is provided. Because of its location the campwill center around aquatic activities, but traditional Scout Summer activitiessuch as Trail to First Class, Nature and Archery will be offered.
Melita Island is in a primitive setting, patrols will be required to bring their own camp equipment (tents,dining flys and cooking equipment) and prepare their own food (food is issued fresh to the Secouts each day), propane stoves with propane are available for rent, for $25per stove per week, the food and drinking water will be provided. Thisis a patrol cooking camp. There are no showers, water is availablebut must be carried to the campsite.
Fees for 2003:
We are only taking reservations for 175 scouts, so get your reservations in early.
Reservation Fees:
$170 to hold a campsite
The $170 will be applied tothe total
camp fee due.
All fees must be paid by May 1,
2003 in order to guarantee the troop site.
$195 per youth, $170 if paidby
May 1st
$55 per adult (2 adult minimum)
